Christianity – It’s a Win-Win Relationship!

Many years ago, I read a devotion in the Our Daily Bread devotional that really made a lasting impression on me. I don’t exactly remember all the particulars but the devotion was about a Christian that had a very debilitating disease like muscular dystrophy. When asked about his lifelong struggle with his condition, I will never forget what this Christian said. In referring to his disease he said “though my condition is permanent it is only temporary.” And while preparing for today’s devotion I love what Billy Graham said: “‎I’m in a win-win playoff.” Response of a Christian dying of cancer at thirty on the prospect of miraculous healing.”1

As a believer in Christ no matter how difficult life can be we can always rejoice because we are in a win-win situation. When life throws us a curveball, I have learned that God is still in control and allows trials and tragedies to cross our paths for a divine purpose. We need to realize that God has a master plan in which He wants to use your tragedy for His glory. And knowing this has allowed me to rejoice in my sufferings because I realize that as I endure the trial, I am being used to bring my Lord ultimate glory. I love what the Apostle Paul said regarding suffering: “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” (Romans 8:18). Paul also adds: For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” (Philippians 1:21).

My friends the Christian life is indeed a win-win relationship with a God who loves you so much that He willing died on the cross to redeem you from certain eternal death. And no matter what our lot in life is we have a lot to live and be thankful for. So stay encouraged, for when you committed your life to Christ you entered into the most wonderful and eternal relationship in the universe!
