Before God created the universe time, as a dimension, as we know it, did not exist. But the Scriptures clearly tell us that before God set the time clock for humanity into motion, at the moment of creation, He existed. In fact (Psalm 90:2) tells us: “Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.” I believe that God created time for man so he could get to know Him, monitor change, and as his springboard to launch him into eternity. Since mankind is finite, he can only grasp God’s timeless nature in part. And since God exists outside the realm of time, we use words such as eternal, infinite, and everlasting to describe the nature and abode of God.
I firmly believe that God created time as our opportunity to get to know Him personally, and to enter into a relationship with Him, that will transcend time and transfer us, when we pass from this life, on into eternity.
I really like how Henry Blackaby shared his concept of man, time, and eternity: “God did not create you for time; He created you for eternity. Your lifetime on earth provides the opportunity for you to become acquainted with Him and to choose to enter a relationship with Him. Time is a period during which God wants to develop your character into His likeness. Then eternity will have its fullest dimensions for you. If you merely live for time, you will miss the ultimate purpose of creation. If you live for time, you will allow your past to control and limit your life today. Your life as a child of God ought to be shaped by the future (what you will ultimately be). God uses your present to mold and shape your future here on earth and throughout eternity.”1
My friends what an exciting time to live now in this dimension called time to get to know Jesus and allow God to conform us more into His image. And did you realize that our destiny was planned before the creation of the world for we read: “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.” (Ephesians 1:4).
As a believer in Christ knowing that our destiny is now secure should give us a deep sense of comfort. Not only that but knowing that even though God is timeless, transcendent, and eternal, He still chooses to occupy our time space dimension with us, allowing us to communicate with Him and know that He will never leave us or forsake us, as well as supply our every need. But the most awesome thing about our relationship with our heavenly Father is that it will never end, since we are created for eternity. One day time will end and our leap into eternity will become our new reality!

Thanks Curt, lots to ponder here really… Amen
