Dr. Seuss and the Bible

America is in the midst of a new revolution called cancel culture. Over the last few years some of the examples that the cancel culture folks in America have implemented include: taking down statues of Christopher Columbus, renaming hundreds of schools, de-platforming conservative voices from social media accounts like X (formerly Twitter), to even banning some of the classic Dr. Seuss children’s books.

But as dangerous as these trends are to our once shining democracy I believe that our cherished Christian values, once a core bedrock of American society, could be facing a devastating assault. Christian morality has already been greatly devalued. We see this all around us from legalized abortion, to same-sex marriage, to now even the celebration of trans-gender individuals. Sin is now not only considered acceptable but even praised as a new morality.

Since the 1960’s Christian values have undergone a steady downward spiral. Some of the things that have changed or are in the process of changing include: removing prayer and Bible reading from public schools, legalizing abortion and same-sex marriage, a movement to take “In God We Trust” off our paper currency and coins, teaching evolution as fact, kneeling for our National Anthem, and another movement to ban preaching against sin from the pulpit.

But what could be the most deadly assault yet may be the banning of the Bible. While this would have been unthinkable even five years ago I believe that cancel culture, by banning several of Dr. Seuss’ books, may just be laying the groundwork for getting society ready to abolish our precious Bible.

Many countries already ban the Bible today and while this may seem unthinkable in America if the current trends of cancel culture continue the Bible may just have to go underground. Who would have thought that America could have justified negro slaves – but they did in the past. Who would have thought that America could legalize the murder of babies in the womb – but we do. Who would have thought that America could redefine the definition of marriage – but we did. And who would have thought freedom of speech would have to be something that millions of conservative voices would need to fight for – but we must.

It’s time we as Christians realize that freedom of religion, for Christianity at least, is something we soon may have to fight for. Many Americans already have a deep distain for the Bible because they know that its pages condemn many of the practices they hold dear. For this section of our population, they would like nothing more than to ban the book they consider a book of hate speech.

May this devotion serve as a clarion call to pray for, not only our nation, but for our cherished freedom of religion and sacred Bible. Prayer is our most powerful weapon against what is going on in America today – so let’s use it!

We hear a lot today about “democracy.” Biden accuses Trump of wanting to destroy our democracy, while he claims to be its great defender. Here’s the problem:
If they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don’t have to worry about answers.
“Democracy” is not the issue. We have a Constitutional Republic. Democracies are rule by majority. A Republic is rule by law. That means we have a fixed standard rather than the moving target of the 51%.
Our Founding Fathers warned against a democracy. Consider the following quotes:
The experience of all former ages had shown that of all human governments, democracy was the most unstable, fluctuating and short-lived.
    John Quincy Adams

Democracies have been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their death.
    James Madison

Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.
    John Marshall

It has been observed that a pure democracy if it were practicable would be the most perfect government. Experience has proved that no position is more false than this. The ancient democracies in which the people themselves deliberated never possessed one good feature of government. Their very character was tyranny; their figure deformity.
    Alexander Hamilton

Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.
    John Adams

Democracy is four wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.
    Ambrose Bierce

Democracy means simply the bludgeoning of the people by the people for the people.
    Oscar Wilde

The problem is that democracy is not freedom. Democracy is simply majoritarianism, which is inherently incompatible with real freedom. Our founding fathers clearly understood this.
    Ron Paul

A government of laws, and not of men.
    John Adams

And the list could go on. We need to start by asking the right question, “What should we fight to preserve?” The legacy of the Founders is telling us that it had better not be a “Democracy.”

    Hi Curt,

Could you point me toward this movement of banning the discussion of sin from the pulpit? I can’t find anything. I do know there have been a couple of examples, one in Houston I think, where pastors have been asked to show The State a copy of
their sermon before preaching it. Also the law to make it hate speech when someone says the Jews killed Jesus is lurking.
We really need to abolish the hate speech law and the patriot act. What a great pair of bludgeons came from “good intentions” which they were the opposite of
