Encourage One Another

(Hebrews 3:13) tells us: “But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called ‘Today,’ so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.” My friends if there is one thing we need more of in the body of Christ, it would be to encourage one another more in our walk with the Lord. In our American culture today, discouragement abounds in almost all areas of life. In order to combat all the negative energy that surrounds us we are told, as Christians, in (Hebrews 3:13) to encourage one another daily.

Encouragement is such a powerful motivator because we are all wired to need positive affirmation and to be built up. And mutual encouragement allows the body of Christ to be more unified and excited about Jesus. Sincere compliments, acknowledging one’s worth as a person, and telling others they are special and loved, can not only make a person’s day but can help them accomplish great things for the Lord. Encouragement also speaks words of life into people’s hearts and makes us want to encourage others just as we have been encouraged. Encouragement builds us up, where the opposite – discouragement – tears us down.

I have often said that if you want to start a great ministry then work at being a daily encourager in the body of Christ. So, with this in mind back in June 2020, I started my daily blog. I pray for those of you who receive my daily email, that my posts have proved a source of encouragement on your daily journey with the Lord. I am a strong believer that as we work together to encourage one another daily, we can strengthen the body of Christ and individually enjoy the Christian journey so much more.

Another ministry I have started, back in December 2021, which I believe we all can do, is to commit to sharing one note of encouragement each day to people in my sphere of influence. What this entails is that each morning I send a short email or a text message to a friend, family member, or acquaintance offering a word of encouragement to bless them as they begin their day. I challenge you to start a similar encouragement ministry. I believe that if we consistently send out these notes of encouragement every day for 365 days you will have a very powerful ministry. It only takes about three to five minutes a day and I pray brings a smile to someone special.

And for all of you reading this devotion today I pray you will take a moment out of your busy schedules and read Psalms 1 and 23 and realize that each of us have as our daily companion the ultimate source of encouragement – the Holy Bible!
