Did you know that evolutionists don’t have a clue on the origin of life. While they admit that currently they don’t know how life arose, they contend that with further research they will eventually solve this riddle. Creationists, clearly believe that an all-powerful Creator brought life into being. Unfortunately, evolutionists refuse to believe that the supernatural is possible and, therefore, rule out this option. According to Kyle Butt: “The origin-of-life research has not shown that a naturalistic origin for life is merely improbable; instead, it has shown that it is impossible—life does not and cannot spontaneously generate from non-living chemicals. That being the case, the only truly “scientific” idea left would be to follow the evidence where it leads—to an intelligent, supernatural creator.”1
So, where does this leave evolutionary scientists? Sadly, it leaves then grasping for straws and trashing the creationists. Rather than embrace the supernatural account of the origin of life they have come up with several theories to try to explain how life spontaneously generated from non-living chemicals.
One theory involves the concept that DNA molecules somehow formed spontaneously. However, this idea has a major flaw. In order to have life we need the basic building blocks of a cell – protein molecules. And here is where the rub comes in for our evolutionist friends. For we know that DNA relies on proteins for its production but proteins rely on DNA for their production. So, the question arises which came first, proteins or DNA? Clearly one must already be in existence for the other to be made. This impossible dilemma can’t be solved through man made logic but only by an all-powerful God who created both DNA and proteins together. I ask you to ponder your choices.
Another theory is called panspermia. According to this theory aliens are responsible for seeding our planet with life. The problem with panspermia is that the evolutionists are only pushing the origin of life into space. If panspermia is true then who formed or how did alien life begin? I like the observation that Frank Turek makes on this issue: “Due to the enormous amounts of information and the machine-like complexity and interconnectedness of biological systems, atheists such as Francis Crick, Fred Hoyle, Stephen Hawking, and even Richard Dawkins have suggested that aliens could be responsible for seeding our planet with life. The theory is called panspermia, meaning seeds everywhere. Google it. Why are these men open to the designer being an alien but not God?”2
What would cause these intelligent men to believe in panspermia? I believe it is a question of morality and accountability. If you believe in the God of the Bible then we are all responsible for our actions. However, if you believe in aliens you wouldn’t be.
In conclusion we see that evolutionary scientists today sadly accept evolution regardless of whether or not the facts support it. Professor Richard Lewontin, a world leader in evolutionary biology, reveals his clear bias against God and creation in this telling quote:
“Our willingness to accept scientific claims that are against common sense is the key to an understanding of the real struggle between science and the supernatural. We take the side of science in spite of the patent absurdity of some of its constructs, in spite of its failure to fulfill many of its extravagant promises of health and life, in spite of the tolerance of the scientific community for unsubstantiated just-so stories, because we have a prior commitment, a commitment to materialism. It is not that the methods and institutions of science somehow compel us to accept a material explanation of the phenomenal world, but, on the contrary, that we are forced by our a priori adherence to material causes to create an apparatus of investigation and a set of concepts that produce material explanations, no matter how counter-intuitive, no matter how mystifying to the uninitiated. Moreover, that materialism is absolute, for we cannot allow a Divine Foot in the door.”3
