While reading over Pastor Tony Evans’ quotes from an earlier devotion I discovered a theme that really hit home with me. I think that after reading the following three quotes from Pastor Evans you will get the point.1
“Sometimes God lets you be in a situation that only He can fix so that you can see that He is the One who fixes it. Rest. He’s got it.”
“God’s timing is always perfect. Trust His delays. He’s got you.”
“Don’t magnify your problems, magnify your God…he’s got you covered.”
While life can be a struggle one thing shouldn’t be, and that is knowing that no matter what trials and sufferings come our way – God’s got you! When God says that He will never leave you or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5), He means what He says. There is just nothing more comforting than to know that even in the midst of the deepest storms of life – God’s got you covered! And how could it be otherwise for next to the Trinity you are the most precious thing in the universe to Jesus – so precious that God’s Holy Spirit makes His abode inside of you!
I absolutely love when Pastor Tony shared: “God’s timing is always perfect. Trust His delays. He’s got you.” What comfort to know that delays in the economy of God are His tools to accomplish something great, in us and with us, if we just trust His timing. In our prayers we want instant answers, but God’s timetable is far better than ours, and allowing us to wait can build our faith in Him, and allow God to accomplish His perfect will and obtain much glory! And the trials we go through are stepping stones to learn valuable spiritual lessons that could not be learned any other way.
My friends Jesus loves you so much that not only does He got you but His precious Word, the Holy Bible, is jam-packed with a myriad of awesome promises about how He cares for and will provide for us, as well as His future promises that are simply out of this world. In the scheme of eternity our physical life is so short that I implore you to stay close to Jesus and not let our momentary light afflictions get you down because according to (2 Corinthians 4:17) they are “working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”
And when things are looking gloomy down here on earth I implore you to take the advice of the Apostle Paul: “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.” (Colossians 3:2). In closing remember that life is training grounds for eternity, and trials and suffering down here are part of the necessary training package in Christ. May I challenge you to memorize the following three verses of Scripture and get excited: “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” (John 14:1-3).
