It’s All About God’s Glory!

My friends if you want to be blessed at all times, then may I suggest that in everything you do, do it all for the glory of God. Several days ago I spoke about this from the Westminster Shorter Catechism which asks the question, “What is the chief end of man?” It then goes on to answer the question as follows: “Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever.” Scripture also tells us: “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31). So whether you are doing big or small things, the key is to do it all for the glory of God.

I like what Pastor Chip Ingram shares regarding this idea: “There’s nothing wrong with dreaming about accomplishing great things, as long as that desire isn’t focused on one’s own glory.”1 As Christians there is nothing wrong in dreaming about doing great things to advance the kingdom of God. Afterall, we serve a great God who has unlimited resources at His disposal to meet whatever your dreams may require to carry out what the Lord may be putting on your heart.

May I humbly suggest several things to consider before trying to carry out the big dream you may be having.

First, we need to realize what is our motive in bringing about the great things we want to do. If it is to advance our career, get married, or buy a new house that’s fine as long as we keep the admonition that God gets the glory for providing us with these blessings. So often we may have the tendency to say look what I accomplished and forget to thank God and give Him the glory for our achievement.

Second, we need to pray is our dream something that falls within the will of God. If it does, then we can proceed to my third point. However, if it doesn’t seem to line up with God’s will, then it might mean to either abandon the dream or modify it.

Third, we need to count the cost that may be involved in making our dreams become reality. For example, are we prepared to put in the time needed or do we really have a passion for the project that we are thinking of accomplishing. If the answer is yes then we can proceed to my final fourth suggestion.

And fourth, if we are willing to give God the glory, feel confident that our dream lines up with God’s will, and we have counted the cost involved in bringing our idea to fruition, then my final advice is go for it!

Our God is a great God and he specializes in using us ordinary people to do extraordinary things for the advancement of His kingdom and the glory of His name. So dream big and be prepared to be used greatly by the Lord!

  1. Good morning Curt. I love how God works! By habit, the first thing I do each morning is open my You Version Bible app to read and meditate on the verse of the day. The second thing I do is open your Bible Apologetics email to receive the Blessings, edification, and encouragement He gives through your inspired posts. Today these merged in 1 Corintians 10:31! God is amazing, God is good, God is Glorious.

And speaking of encouragement, thank you for your post yesterday on that topic. It was timely, though my response is a day late. I pray that God bless and encourage Dmyou yesterday, today, and tomorrow, because of the encouragement you give to others so faithfully.
