My Greatest Passion

One of my greatest passions in life is teaching and sharing apologetics. I am totally amazed at how wonderful the Bible is and how it towers above any and all books ever written in its ability to provide us with rich meaning in life, peace and joy to those who cherish it, and eternal life to those who know the author – Jesus Christ! And one of the main reasons I love apologetics is that it increases my faith in the truthfulness of the Bible and in Jesus Christ.

However, my greatest passion in life is what my knowledge of apologetics allows me to do. Simply put it is to showcase and put on display just how awesome Jesus is. I totally concur with Pastor John Piper when he said: “God created us to live with a single passion: to joyfully display his supreme excellence in all spheres of life. The wasted life is the life without this passion. God calls us to pray and think and dream and plan and work, not to be made much of, but to make much of him in every part of our lives.”1

Since knowing, praising, and worshipping Jesus is the ultimate source of joy in my life, and sharing Jesus with the world is the greatest thing I can do for others, is it any wonder that this two-fold Jesus-centered life is my greatest passion.

Waking up each day, I really look forward to reading my Bible, praying over my prayer list, and writing a new devotion for others to be encouraged in their walk with the Lord.

Christian what about you? Is your passion Jesus or is it something else. If Jesus isn’t your passion, then I agree with John Piper when he shared: “…The wasted life is the life without this passion…”

If your life is not full of joy, if you are still searching for what your purpose in life is, and if life is not an exciting adventure, may I suggest to you that you have your passion in the wrong place. If it is not in Jesus, you will never find the true satisfaction and meaning in life you were created to experience. So, remember that Jesus and you – that’s the ultimate winning combination!
