Did you ever contemplate that while our incredibly massive universe has limits to its boundaries the God who spoke the Word and created it doesn’t! Or that when God established the dimension of time, that He existed before time began! And that while we have limits as to what we can accomplish through hard work and human wisdom, God has no limits as to what He can do.
While we are very limited because we are finite, our God is not because He is infinite! And though this may make us seem somewhat insignificant, being just one of eight billion people on planet earth, and living on a planet, that is just one tiny speck, among the untold trillions of heavenly bodies in our universe, this thought could not be further from the truth. For you see God loves you so much that first, He created you in His very own image. Second, He sent His Son to die on the cross of Calvary, to redeem you from certain eternal destruction. Third, He considers you His treasured possession and wants more than anything else to have a special relationship with you. And fourth, He promises us, when we die, that we can spend eternity with Him in perfect peace, joy, and bliss!
Away with the idea that we are insignificant. To our infinite, eternal, and limitless God we are, next to the Trinity, the most blessed and valuable people in the universe! Yes we are very limited in so many ways, but I love what A. W. Tozer said about our limitations: “How completely satisfying to turn from our limitations to a God who has none. Eternal years lie in His heart. For Him time does not pass, it remains; and those who are in Christ share with Him all the riches of limitless time and endless years.”1
My friends the next time you are feeling down and of little worth why not take a few moments to reflect on just how special and valuable you are to the Creator of the universe – Jesus Christ! And in closing why not reflect on this amazing thought: As finite human beings we can only have a certain amount of special thoughts toward our great God. But since God is limitless, Scripture tells us: “How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand…” (Psalm 139:17-18). Imagine God has a virtual limitless amount of precious thoughts towards you!
