Have you ever wondered why you are here in this moment of time and space? Or perhaps on a clear night, as you gaze into a brilliant star-filled evening sky, your mind begins to ponder just how you came into existence. But most of all in a quiet moment, when you are all alone, does the question, where are you going in this world, become a resounding gong on the corridors of your mind? Yes why, how, and where are the words we begin to focus upon whenever we stop and turn our thoughts toward the realm of the infinite.
In a galaxy of countless trillions of stars and a world of billions of people, we can see that we are but a speck on a speck in a universe that has as its dimensions infinity and beyond.
As I sit here and allow my thoughts to wander, I cannot help but feel an utter insignificance to life without knowing why I am here. Man, the crowning glory of our world, has since he first began to formulate ideas and concepts, and experience feelings, has asked the question why.
Why am I here? Throughout manβs existence, with each heartbeat, each breath, and each step he has taken, the question of why has never ceased to leave his mind. But without the answer to this most fundamental of questions, life will never have meaning, man will never find happiness, and our journey through life will be but one filled with despair, bleakness, and an empty hollow feeling. Just examine your heart for no secrets can be hidden from it.
For over 2,000 years the answer to this question of why has been given to man yet most have never allowed the reality of it to enter into their lives. Sadly, most men have desperately searched in every direction and through every means possible only to find that the answer is, that none exists!
But if there is no existence to an answer whose question means our very existence then we are hopelessly trapped in a universe that has no meaning, no purpose, and no way of escaping the inevitable conclusion that life is a concept that is as dead as our universe is dark. Our existence is thus one of only form and shadow reflecting out into a vast sea of eternal nothingness.
But 2,000 years ago this darkness was completely obliterated by a light of immense illumination which shone as brilliantly as the most glorious sunset in the twilight of a summer evening.
Yes, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was born to not only give us the answer to the question of why, but also the gift of eternal life.
The Bible says that we are all sinners and live in total spiritual darkness and that the wages of sin is death. We are hopelessly lost and separated from fellowship with our Creator God.
But God in His infinite love and mercy sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross as a substitute for our sins. Jesus paid the penalty for our sins and took the veil of darkness away. God only asks that we repent of our sins and accept Jesus as the Lord and Savior of our lives. Once this becomes a reality the question of why is replaced with the response of Thank You!
As a result of this marvelous transaction we now live to give glory to God. Light has become our new birthright and the truth of God has become a reality in our lives. Our passport to an eternity of joy and bliss in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ is now ours forever. The gift of eternal life is promised to all who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
But all of this love, joy, and meaning can only be obtained if we know Jesus Christ personally as our Lord. As a Christian you know the reality of this for the Bible teaches us that Jesus is the only passport into a heavenly eternity. For we read, ββ¦I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no man comes to the Father, but through me.β (John 14:6).
My sincere prayer is that we learn to share our passport with a world, which sadly, is carrying only exit visas.
Good word my dear brother! Going forward from today this will be apart of my morning worship.
Thank you π,
Peace!
