In our world today there are so many different belief systems that claim to share the truth about life that the question arises, how can we know if any of them really are domains of truth. And while each different belief system has bits and pieces of the truth in them, only the Bible and its biblically based lifestyle can claim to represent absolute truth.
Sadly, all other ways of viewing life are based on relative truths, which in reality are no truths at all. For you see only the Bible, and its absolute truths on all matters, have stood the test of time, and have been able to radically transform those who live by its truths into people of true joy, peace, and rich meaning. Relative truth says that what is true for me may not be true for you and vice versa. Absolute truth says that its truth is for all of humanity and for every time period. And I believe that the only way we can know this kind of truth is if it is given to us by a source of absolute perfect knowledge, wisdom, and supreme authority – or in other words God.
I really like how A. W. Pink talks about this kind of truth: “Deny that the Bible is, without any qualifications, the very Word of God, and you are left without any ultimate standard of measurement and without any supreme authority. Grant that the Bible is a Divine revelation and communication of God’s own mind and will to men, and you have a fixed starting point from which an advance can be made into the domain of truth.”1
And the reason the Bible allows us to advance into the “domain of truth,” is because it is divinely inspired by the one who has set down the “ultimate standard of measurement” of the truth – Jesus Christ. You see this is God’s universe, and as such, He alone is the ultimate source and provider of truth. And He chose the holy Bible to be His vehicle to dispense truth to us.
All other truths are man-made and relative and can never stand the test of time. And that is why we have so many false religions and philosophies that never can deliver the deepest yearnings of mankind. You see we are all created with a spiritual vacuum which only Jesus Christ – the source of all truth, can fill. All other so-called “truth” systems can’t fill the God shaped hole we are all born with. And since we all have an absolute need to reconnect with our maker in order to find lasting peace, joy, and meaning in life, we all have a need for absolute truth – and that my friends can only come from absolute truth Himself – Jesus!
I, for one, am so grateful that one day Christ revealed Himself to me, a lost sinner, who tried to find truth, but sadly, in all the wrong places. I tried Eastern mysticism, Silva mind control, transcendental meditation, and even Buddhism, but none of these could satisfy my soul. Only Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, the real joy giver, and the way, the truth, and the life could!
