Allan Sandage, the world famous American astronomer once commented: “The world is too complicated in all parts and interconnections to be due to chance alone. I am convinced that the existence of life with all its order in each of its organisms is simply too well put together. Each part of a living thing depends on all its other parts to function. How does each part know? How is each part specified at conception? The more one learns of biochemistry the more unbelievable it becomes unless there is some type of organizing principle-an architect.”1
And Isaac Newton added: “This most beautiful system of the sun, planets and comets, could only proceed from the counsel and dominion of an intelligent and powerful Being.”2
Proponents of evolution believe that our universe, our planet, and all the inhabitants of our planet, including humans, all came about by chance. They would have you believe that the computer I am typing this devotion on had to be designed by humans, but the universe, which is infinitely more complex than my computer, had no designer at all – but was the product of a vast number of fortuitous accidents.
Your cell phone is an amazingly complex piece of machinery and is another example of the creative design genius of mankind. But as complex as a cell phone is it pales in complexity to a human cell. For you see a human cell is like a tiny factory with hundreds of subparts each able to function independently and as a team with all of its other cellular subparts; performing amazing design feats in mere nano-seconds.
It takes a lot of faith to believe that something as complicated as a cell phone, which took years of ingenuity and literally thousand of engineers and scientists to design, and yet each vastly more complex 30 trillion package of cells we call a human being, just came into existence by chance and accident. More complex things like you and me should take a more skillful designer than less complex things such as a computer or cell phone, yet for the evolutionist just the opposite is true – the more complex a thing the less need for a designer under their worldview.
Some say that intelligent design isn’t scientific to which I say it is far more plausible and scientific than chance creating everything there is in our universe. Also, sadly, many scientists today, who believe in evolution, perhaps are not familiar with the fact that many of the greatest scientists of the past few hundred years believed in a creator God; and many of these geniuses believed in the God of the Bible. Scientists such as Newton, Kepler, Boyle, Kelvin, Maxwell, Joule, Faraday, and many more were strong proponents of a divine designer.
May I close by asking you to share this devotion with your non-believing friends and ask them to consider my quotes above and the two below:
“The chance that higher life forms might have emerged through evolutionary processes is comparable with the chance that a tornado sweeping through a junk yard might assemble a Boeing 747 from the material therein.”3 – Fred Hoyle, famed British astronomer
“Scientists are slowly waking up to an inconvenient truth – the universe looks suspiciously like a fix. The issue concerns the very laws of nature themselves. For 40 years, physicists and cosmologists have been quietly collecting examples of all too convenient ‘coincidences’ and special features in the underlying laws of the universe that seem to be necessary in order for life, and hence conscious beings, to exist. Change any one of them and the consequences would be lethal. Fred Hoyle, the distinguished cosmologist, once said it was as if ‘a super-intellect has monkeyed with physics.’”4 – Paul Davies distinguished British physicist.

Whenever we think the testimony of scientists, the statistics of probability or the discoveries that range from the human cell to the planets will convince the unbeliever that there is a creator God , we need to go back to the Bible to help us understand why they don’t see and interpret their observations the way the Christian does. Here’s a hint: their belief in evolution is deeply rooted in the presuppositions that make up their worldview. Hear the testimony of Paul writing to the Romans:
For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
This passage starts by saying they suppress the truth in unrighteousness.
This is not a lack of knowledge but an immoral act of suppression for which God says, they receive His wrath and He has given them up.
And again, Ps. 19:1-2
“The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.”
What is needed is repentance, the gift of God that precedes knowledge?
2Tim 2:25 “Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth”
Our non-believing friends believe but they suppress. May God grant them repentance.
