When it comes to the truth we basically are left with several options. The first option is to decide if truth is either relative or absolute. If one chooses this option then he is really saying that what is true for you may not be true for me and what is true for me may not be true for you. In reality if you believe truth is relative, then what you are saying is that there really is no truth that we all can count on. Or to put it another way there really is no truth at all.
A second option that many take is to deny the truth. In this scenario, a person when confronted with something that is clearly true chooses to flat out deny its validity. A classic case is the recent trend of transgenderism, where men believe they are women and women believe they are men.
The third option concerns the suppression of the truth. In this situation a person knows deep in their heart the truth of a matter, but rather than acknowledge it chooses to suppress it. The Scriptures clearly tell us that this option is what many people choose to take. (Romans 1:18-20): states this clearly: “The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” I like how R. C. Sproul put it: “Deep within our souls we know that God exists and that He has given His law to us. We seek to suppress this knowledge in order to escape God’s commands. But no matter how hard we try, we cannot silence this inner voice. It can be muffled but not destroyed.”1
Finally, the fourth option is the only one that has an individual acknowledging that there actually is truth and that it is not relative but absolute. Only this option allows a person to come to understand that Jesus and the Bible are the only absolute standards of truth when it comes to realizing that there is only one true God and one inerrant book of divine truth. In (John 14:6) Jesus states: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Praise God as Christians we have the truth so let’s share it wherever we go and allow it to permeate every fiber of our being!
Below are some quotes on various aspects of truth that I pray will encourage you in your fight to always take a stance for the truth.2
“At the end of his life Buddha said: ‘I am still searching for truth.’ This statement could be made by countless thousands of scientists, philosophers, and religious leaders throughout all history. However, Jesus Christ made the astounding claim: ‘I am . . . the truth’ [John 14:6]. He is the embodiment of all truth. The only answer to man’s search is found in Him.” ― Billy Graham
“It is better to be divided by truth than to be united in error. It is better to speak the truth that hurts and then heals, than falsehood that comforts and then kills.” ― Adrian Rogers
“If our minds and hearts are not filled with God’s truth, something else will take His place: cynicism, occultism, false religions and philosophies, drugs—the list is endless.” ― Billy Graham
“God gives us not only the truth but also the ability to believe it; not only the new thing to see but also the new eye to see it with.” ― Peter Kreeft
“In darkness God’s truth shines most clear.” ― Corrie Ten Boom

“One of the few things in life that cannot possibly do harm in the end is the honest pursuit of the truth.” ― Peter Kreeft
“Pilate’s skeptical sneer ‘What is truth?’ was addressed to Truth Himself, standing there right in front of his face. The world’s stupidest question was three words; God’s profoundest answer was one Word.” ― Peter Kreeft
“He that takes truth for his guide, and duty for his end, may safely trust to God’s providence to lead him a right.” ― Blaise Pascal
“Only God may be adored, because only God is unlimited goodness, truth, and beauty, and thus only God deserves unlimited love.” ― Peter Kreeft
