Throughout the past year I have been blessed to read my friend Patrick Cox’s Facebook posts. I always find interesting short but impactful sayings that bless my soul and cause me to realize how our world needs Jesus more than ever. Below are thirteen short quotes to help all of us take our walk with Jesus seriously:
“The Bible is 66 books, 1,189 chapters, and 31,102 verses. Every word is inerrant, infallible, authoritative, sufficient, and are God’s words for eternal life. Why would we proclaim anything else?” – Dustin Benge
“Jesus did not die as a martyr, nor as an example, but as a substitute.” – Alistair Begg
“If you find a professing Christian indifferent to his Bible you may be sure that the very dust upon its cover will rise up in judgment against him.” – C. H. Spurgeon
“The LORD did not check who inside the house was worthy. HE checked for the BLOOD on the doorposts. None of us is worthy. Only the blood of Jesus can cover us.” – Unknown
“If the Christian gospel is true, everything else is a lie.” – John MacArthur
“The essence of Christianity is centered upon the Lord Jesus Christ. The sum and substance of being a Christian is trusting Christ with the entirety of one’s being. The height of the Christian life is adoring Christ, the depth of it loving Him, the breadth of it obeying Him, and the length of it following Him. Everything in the Christian life revolves around Jesus Christ. Simply put, Christianity is Christ.” – Steven Lawson
“When a man admires himself he never adores God.” – C. H. Spurgeon
“We must read our Bibles like men digging for hidden treasure!” – J. C. Ryle
“Do you know what the big problem is in the world today? There’s a lot of religion, but there isn’t a lot of Jesus.” – Jim Cymbala
“It is not a matter of time so much as a matter of heart; if you have the heart to pray, you will find the time.” – C. H. Spurgeon
“Salvation is God determined, God purchased, God applied, and God secured. From start to finish, salvation is of the Lord alone.” – Steven Lawson
“Death is no punishment to the believer: it is the gate of endless joy.” – C. H. Spurgeon
“A whole new generation of Christians has come up believing that it is possible to ‘accept’ Christ without forsaking the world.” – A. W. Tozer
