As I was looking over some quotes from one of my favorite inspirational authors, Max Lucado, I was really touched by this quote: “The museum wall that contains the framed words of the Twenty-third Psalm, the Lord’s Prayer, and John 3:16 should also display Philippians 4:4–8.”1
These four sections of Scripture have probably had more sermons preached on them than perhaps any others in all the Bible. They are certainly worthy of memorizing and adding them to the memory banks of our minds. Rather than comment on these amazingly powerful and encouraging verses I will just share them and ask you to take time to read, meditate, and ponder on these treasures from God’s Holy Word. (All of these verses are from the King James Version of the Bible).
(Psalm 23)
23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
