Christianity – The Finest Worldview

According to my good friend Greg Enos: “A worldview is simply the set of beliefs that a person has about the biggest questions in life. It’s like a pair of glasses or lenses through which we view the world every day.”1 Greg goes on to say that some of the questions we all face in life include questions of origin, meaning, morality, and destiny. According to Greg a worldview provides truth claims about reality.2

Deciding upon which worldview you should accept obviously will have a profound effect on the quality of your life now and your future destiny. Over the past 18 months, since I started my daily devotional, I have attempted to show my readers why Christianity is not only the best worldview, but the only one that has solid evidence to back it up. Whether from history, science, ethics and morality, prophecy, and any other discipline, Christianity and its truth claims about reality have stood the test of time.

Christianity is the only worldview that provides us with satisfactory answers to Greg’s questions of origin, meaning, morality, and destiny. (Genesis 1) tells us all we need to know about the origin of the world and humanity. As far as meaning goes I believe the Westminster Shorter Catechism asks the question and then gives us the answer when it says: “What is the chief end of man?” It then shares the answer: “Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever.” When its comes to living a moral life all we need to do is read the four gospels and see how Jesus lived His life. His perfect way of living should be an example for all of us. And when it comes to our destiny, Christianity provides us with the ultimate answer – we were created to have eternal life through knowing Jesus.

I can’t think of a more wonderful worldview than the Christian one. It is full of joy and rich meaning and is so intellectually sound based on solid evidence. We can be confident that when we cast our lot with Jesus we have made a wise and life changing decision.
