One of the greatest proofs that the Bible is a supernatural book is that there are many things written in the word of God that were not discovered to be scientifically accurate until sometimes hundreds and even thousands of years after the Bible said them.
But how could the Bible know so much about science before scientists discovered these facts? Charlie Campbell gives us the answer: “The men who penned the Scriptures revealed several amazing facts about the Earth and the universe thousands of years before scientists discovered these declarations to be true. The Bible writers often had no idea that the words they wrote were scientifically way ahead of their time nor did they even know they were making scientific statements. But they had, as Charlie Campbell states, “inside information,” given to them by supernatural revelation from the Creator of the universe. It is only fitting that some of the greatest scientific discoveries, during the last 500 years, were made by men who were strong Bible believing Christians. These scientists undoubtedly used the wisdom gained from the sacred pages of the Bible to help them unlock the great mysteries of our natural world, thereby changing the course of history forever. I can only imagine when these geniuses helped to unlock one of the mysteries of the universe that they stood in awe of the God who created the laws that govern all of science. The great German astronomer, Johannes Kepler once remarked: “Since we astronomers are priests of the highest God in regard to the book of nature, it befits us to be thoughtful, not of the glory of our minds, but rather, above all else, of the glory of God.”3
Just as the field of archaeology has confirmed much of the historical nature of the Scriptures, the field of science has confirmed many of the scientific statements that the Bible declared. Could the Bible have been written by ordinary men – yes – but don’t forget they were armed with “inside information” from above.
