The Need to Manifest the Fruit of the Spirit

As Christians, I believe, that one of the best ways we can attract non-believers to Christ is to manifest the fruit of the Spirit in our daily walk and talk. Since it is well-known that for many people the only Bible that they will ever read is observing how you live your life. While it is true that non-believers “suppress the truth by their wickedness,” (Romans 1:18) and often want nothing to do with submitting their lives to a holy God, it is also true that when we truly manifest the fruit of the Spirit to those who don’t know Jesus, we will inevitably offer them a lifestyle that deep in their hearts they truly admire.

Now I am not saying that our lifestyle alone is enough to bring sinners to Christ, since before we came to Jesus all of us were dead in our sins and trespasses. But when we add believing prayer for an individual’s salvation with a (Galatians 5:22-23) lifestyle, we maximize the possibility that salvation can come to that person. Now just what does (Galatians 5:22-23) say: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”

My friends, a radiant Christian, who manifests the above fruits of the Spirit, will often convict those who are living a godless life. And it’s the conviction of the heart that is essential to providing a pathway to Christ. Now couple this conviction of the heart with persistent believing prayer for salvation and you have a powerful one-two punch to open a hardened heart to the gospel message.

Let’s face it we all know some Christians that manifest what I call “rotten fruit.” They are depressed, unthankful, lack any peace in their lives, are rough around the edges, and have little self-control. With this type of a lifestyle rest assured we will prove horrible ambassadors for Christ. But when we demonstrate these nine fruits from (Galatians 5:22-23) through our interaction with non-believers, we will, in many cases, cause those we interact with to wonder what makes us so kind, loving, joyful, and compassionate.

As we draw closer to our Lord and Savior, He will not only equip us to evangelize the lost, not only put a burden on our hearts to pray for the conversion of souls, but help us to live our lives with love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

I believe that living a Spirit-filled life makes us a very powerful and dangerous foe of Satan because he knows when faced with this type of a Christian he must flee. So, I pray you will strive to emulate Christ in all that you do. In so doing be prepared to lead the journey of a lifetime!
