What’s Your Highest Privilege?

empty cave

Pastor W. A. Criswell answers this question so beautifully when he shared the following: “To lift Him up, to preach His name, and to invite souls to love Him and to follow Him is the highest, heavenliest privilege of human life.”1

As ambassadors for Christ and reflectors of His glory we, as Christians, have the incredible privilege to represent the sovereign Creator of the universe here on earth. Not only can we “lift Him up” through our praises and deeds but we have the awesome blessing, in the words of Criswell, to “invite souls to love Him and to follow Him.”

In addition, we have been granted the great privilege of communing with our heavenly Father as often as we like through prayer and the reading of His Word. Imagine, if you had the opportunity to meet with the President of the United States how great an honor that would be. But we have an even greater honor to have a private audience, as often as we like, with the God who created the universe!

And if that were not enough we have been called to be joint heirs with Christ, for we read: “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.” (Romans 8:16-17). How amazing a thought to be a joint heir with Jesus!

My friends next to the Trinity we are the hottest things in the universe and while it is true from (Romans 8:17) that we have been chosen to suffer with Him we also have the great privilege to be glorified together with Him!

But with all of these privileges comes the awesome responsibility to live a holy life for Christ. While it may seem near impossible to live up to our Savior’s holy standards, the great news is that the Holy Spirit, who lives within us, provides us with everything we need to make Jesus proud of us.

The key is to realize that we have God in our corner to help us lead a holy life. I love what we read in (Isaiah 41:10): “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Notice that five times we read in this verse that the word “I,” which refers to God, says: I am with you, I am your God, I will strengthen you, I will help you, and I will uphold you. God has your back and will do everything possible to help you along this journey called life. I don’t know about you but I am super excited with all of the privileges of being a Christian. And while I also understand my responsibilities to Christ, I rejoice knowing that God will supply everything I need to lead a wonderful life and bring Him glory!
