You Are Infinitely Valuable To God

We live in a society today where millions of Americans suffer from low self-esteem. Sadly, many Christians also suffer from this malady. One of the main reasons for this mind set, I believe, is that many have bought the great lie of believing in Darwinian evolution. You see if you believe in evolution then you must believe that you are nothing more than a chance accidental occurrence and as a result have no intrinsic value. However, when we begin to realize just how valuable we are to God and that God thinks the world of us, low self-esteem should vanish.

As a Christian low self-esteem should never be something we struggle with when we realize just who we are in Christ. My friends next to the Trinity we are the hottest things in the universe! When we read the Bible we see that we are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), we are God’s treasured possession (Deuteronomy 14:2), we are children of God and joint heirs with Christ (Romans 8:16-17), we are chosen, royal, holy, and special to God (1 Peter 2:9), and that God has a myriad of precious thoughts toward us (Psalm 139:17-18)!

Christian, it’s time we mediate on what the Bible tells us about who we are in Christ and not buy the lies of the devil that somehow we are not special. I love what Pastor Rick Warren says about just how valuable we really are: “Let me tell you how worthwhile you are. You are infinitely valuable to God. First, God created you. Second, Jesus died for you. Third, he puts his Spirit within you. Fourth, he wants you to be with him forever in eternity. That’s how valuable you are to God. You are infinitely valuable to God.”1

So, the next time thoughts of inferiority come into your mind realize that they are lies from the enemy and eject them with Scripture. In closing never forget that God loves you so much that He has chosen to make His home inside of us for we read: “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16).
