To those who believe in Darwinian evolution, you are nothing more than a cosmic accident! And since an accidental collision of random molecules made you, what purpose can your life really have. In fact, without a belief in God, as your Creator, not only can’t you find intrinsic value in this Darwinian belief system, as you sadly spend all your time focusing on what makes you happy, but your destiny is a meaningless pile of dead bones and decay.
I like how Rick Warren puts it: “You are not an accident. Your parents may not have planned you, but God did. He wanted you alive and created you for a purpose. Focusing on yourself will never reveal your real purpose. You were made by God and for God, and until you understand that life will never make sense. Only in God do we discover our origin, our identity, our meaning, our purpose, our significance and our destiny.”1
As a Christian our entire lives are about purpose and destiny, and praise God, when we understand that, life becomes a joyous and exciting adventure as we spend our time here on planet earth working to put a smile on God’s face, advance His kingdom, and glorify His name.
And when it comes to the purpose of life again, Rick Warren, gives us great insight: “Life is about letting God use you for his purposes, not using him for your own purpose.”2 If God is your Creator, it makes perfect sense that we are designed for His purposes. However, if we are here by chance, as the Darwinian evolutionists proclaim, then we will be consumed with our own selfish purposes. As a result, under this evolutionary paradigm our lives will never find intrinsic purpose since accidents don’t create meaning. Only when we realize that we are created in God’s image and are of infinite value to Him can we find our ultimate purpose in Christ. And thankfully, Jesus has left us His holy Scriptures to learn more about Him, who we are in Him, and how we can please Him. And knowing these three things brings us amazing purpose and allows us to find our true destiny in life!
