Christianity is the best belief system and worldview for a host of reasons. Below are just five reasons why being a Christian and following the precepts of Christianity is by far the most wonderful way to live:
Christianity is the only belief system that answers the three big questions of life
Question 1 – Where did we come from?
We are not, as Darwinian evolution posits, the chance collision of random molecules that over vast eons of time evolved into human being. No the Bible says we were created by God in His image and are masterpieces of divine design. As a result, we were created to have an intimate relationship with the God of the universe. Now that’s exciting!
Question 2 – What is the purpose of life?
I believe, that the primary purpose of life is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever! After spending 28 years as a non-believer and 45 years as a Christian, I can honestly say my life was very empty for the first 28 years but full of excitement, joy, and purpose for the last 45 years as a Christian – when I let Jesus into my heart and allowed Him to run my life. Glorifying God is now my greatest passion in life.
Question 3 – Where do we go when we die?
Christianity tells us that we are eternal beings with an eternal soul. It also tells us that when we know Jesus as our Lord and Savior we can know with certainty, based on the infallible Word of God, that we will spend eternity with Christ.
Christianity is the only belief system that convicts men of sin and leads them to salvation
Every other religious belief system is based on man trying to do good works in order to gain favor with God. Only Christianity says that we are dead in our sins and trespasses and are incapable of earning our way back to God because of sin. Thankfully, Jesus made a way back to God through our repentance of sin and accepting Christ’s free offer of salvation and forgiveness of sin. And until mankind realizes that he can never earn his way back to God, he will never find the one true God – Jesus Christ.
Christianity is the only belief system that provides us with a satisfactory answer to why there is evil and suffering in this life
Clearly life is unfair, full of suffering, and full of evil. Only Christianity provides us the answer to this critical question of why is there suffering and evil. Sadly, because of sin our world has gone haywire. And because we have freewill we often choose to sin and do evil, disobeying the precepts of God. The Bible tells us that when the first man, Adam, sinned our perfect world became cursed in every way. Thus, man now can choose to do evil, which many times he does. Also, our entire planet is now broken, which explains why we have so many natural disasters. But praise God with the creation of the new heaven and new earth at the end of time, this will forever correct our sin drenched planet.
Christianity is the only belief system that is based on an infallible book called the Bible
All belief systems, whether religious or secular, are based on man-made ideas and can never, not only satisfactory answer most of life’s most pressing questions, but are based on a man-made system of morality and start with the faulty premise that mankind is basically good. The Bible, which has withstood the test of time, and been proven over and over again to be historically, scientifically, and prophetically always accurate, is like no book ever written, and clearly has the divine stamp of God written all over it. Following its divine precepts guarantees us a life of rich meaning, perfect peace, and amazing joy. No other belief system can match the Bible’s perfect wisdom, its promise of continuous joy as we obey its commandments, and its wonderful promises that we can claim as our own as children of God.
Christianity is the only belief system that allows us to live life in a perpetual state of joy
Sadly, many people confuse happiness and joy. They, however, are not the same. Happiness is circumstantial. Positive circumstances often lead to happiness while negative circumstances often lead to sadness. Joy, however, is based on obedience to the commands found in the Bible. And as we obey the Word of God we can always live in a state of vibrant joy, knowing that we are doing things that are pleasing to the Lord. And this fact, to me, makes Christianity and serving Jesus so very attractive.
You see life isn’t fair. Why should millions of people go to bed hungry every night while I have an abundance of food. And why are there millions of people who are blind. And I could go on. But don’t confuse life with God. While life is often unfair, God is always fair. And even if we get a bad shake in life, we know that God has a master plan to use our negative circumstances for our ultimate good and His glory. And that my friends allows me to always know that I can have joy, even in the most trying of trials.
And to top it off Christianity allows us to have a deeply personal and intimate relationship with the Creator of the universe, allows us to share the best news ever given to mankind – the gospel – with both our friends and enemies, and allows us the indescribable and glorious privilege to spend eternal life with Jesus!
