Evolution – The Great Lie – Part I

Ever since Charles Darwin published his groundbreaking book, The Origin of Species, in 1859, science has tenaciously defended its belief in the theory of evolution. The late Christian apologist, Ron Carlson, states, what I believe to be the ultimate reason behind why so many scientists defend this bankrupt theory when he said: “The tragedy is that evolution is a nineteenth-century philosophy that has been destroyed by twentieth-century science. Yet the lie continues to be perpetrated, not on scientific grounds, but because it is what morally justifies our immoral society today.”1

Since creation can’t be observed or replicated in a lab – science is not a trustworthy place to seek answers on origins. As Isaac Newton famously once said: “Gravity explains the motions of the planets, but it cannot explain who set the planets in motion.”2

Over the last 164 years, since the publication of The Origin of Species, in 1859, science has made monumental leaps in explaining how our universe works, but little progress on how our universe and life came into being. Instead, the field of science has stubbornly clung to its belief in Darwinian evolution as the mode to how life came to be. I pray that the following observations may arm you with insights to share with your pro-evolution friends as to why the time has come to abandon this non-scientific and bankrupt theory.

Observation 1 – Cellular biology didn’t exist in Darwin’s day

In Darwin’s day we knew next to nothing about the human cell. In fact, to Darwin, it was just a blob of protoplasm or a black box. Fast forward to today and our knowledge of cellular biology is infinitely greater than in 1859. In fact, each cell in our human body is so complex that Nobel Prize winner Linus Pauling once remarked: “Just one living cell in the human body is, more complex than New York City.”3 There is little doubt in my mind that if Darwin knew what we now know about the human cell he would have abandoned his theory completely.

In fact, Darwin once remarked: “If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ existed, which could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive, slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down.”4 It takes far more faith to believe that something as amazingly complex as a human cell could have evolved, let alone a human organ which is light years more complex than a single cell, than to be the product of a master Creator. The human cell in my opinion should have nailed the coffin lid shut on evolution years ago. And I believe that many scientists today would agree but are uncomfortable admitting it. Molecular biologist, Michael Behe, is right when he says: “In private many scientists admit that science has no explanation for the beginning of life…Darwin never imagined the exquisitely profound complexity that exists even at the most basic levels of life.”5

Observation 2 – Darwinism is secular religion masquerading as science

Darwinism is not science and clearly is not subject to the scientific method which is based on observable and repeatable experimentation. It should be classified instead as a religion. Sadly, this religion unlike Christianity, which leads to hope and meaning, only leads to insignificance and despair. Since evolution can’t be tested it makes for a poor candidate for a scientific theory. Instead, evolution should be viewed as a religion or worldview.

The only problem is that religion should uplift the spirit of man. However, when we see what evolution has to offer it is indeed a very bleak picture. As a religion evolution states the following: You are a chance collision of random molecules that has no intrinsic value. You are here for a very brief period of time on planet earth. And finally, you came from nothing and when you die you go back to nothing; and somehow you must find meaning in between these two states of nothingness. How morbid indeed!

In tomorrow’s devotion we will explore several more observations on why evolution and science just don’t mix.

  1. Greetings Curt and MeiYing!

So sorry we have not been able to get together this year. Marilyn’s brother is still in the nursing home and her mother is struggling hard with dementia and other health issues. It’s been rather difficult few months since we last talked but I just wanted to reach out and wish you both a happy Thanksgiving! May God bless you two and may you enjoy this holiday season as we prepare to celebrate Christmas. If the weather is good these next few weeks, perhaps we can try and meet at some point. We’ll see. Anyway, until next time, thank you Curt for understanding and i pray for peace, joy and the love of God in all things for you both! Take care and please give our love to MeiYing!!
