Evolution – The Great Lie – Part II

In yesterday’s devotion we saw that cellular biology didn’t exist in Darwin’s day and as a result Darwin proposed his theory of evolution without knowing how utterly impossible it was for blind chance and magnificent design to coexist. We also discussed how Darwinism is nothing more than secular religion masquerading as science. In today’s devotion we will discuss why Scripture, not science, should be the ultimate test of all truth, why DNA poses an impossible barrier to evolution, and why Darwin, I believe, knew in his heart that the human eye made his theory fall apart.

Observation 1 – Scripture, not science, should be the ultimate test of all truth

Scripture is timeless and changeless. Science, however,  is constantly changing and often is wrong. If you were to take a college textbook on biology, chemistry, or physics from 200 years ago and place it in a modern-day university class, it would be laughed at since so many of its scientific statements are no longer valid. That’s because our knowledge of science is constantly evolving as we learn more. Old theories, are often discarded or revised. But the Bible has withstood the test of time and proven to be a timeless and accurate book.

In addition, the Bible, even in the area of science, has proven to be always accurate. Take for example the area of scientific archaeology. This field of study has confirmed literally hundreds of biblical accounts of people, places, and artifacts that once were only found in the Bible. Many an archaeological dig has turned skeptics into believers in the truthfulness of the Scriptures. For additional thoughts on science and the Bible see my devotion, The Bible – Scientifically Ahead Of Its Time.1

Observation 2 – Why DNA poses an impossible barrier to evolution

In order to have life we need the basic building blocks of a cell – protein molecules. And here is where the rub comes in for our evolutionist friends. For we know that DNA relies on proteins for its production but proteins rely on DNA for their production. So, the question arises which came first, proteins or DNA? Clearly one must already be in existence for the other to be made. This impossible dilemma can’t be solved through man-made logic but only by an all-powerful God who created both DNA and proteins together. I ask you to ponder your choices.

Observation 3 – The human eye – evolution’s worst nightmare

Charles Darwin once said: “To suppose that the eye with all its inimitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light and for the correction of spherical and chromatic aberration, could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest degree.”2 Darwin, however, rather than abandon his theory, still maintained that the eye could have evolved in a step-wise fashion.

Science, however, has demonstrated that there are an amazing amount of complicated bio-chemical and electrical processes that need to take place for sight to occur. The point is that the human eye is absolutely useless unless it is complete. All the parts must be in the exact right position, and all there, or else there would be no sight. It is therefore, irreducibly complex.  It could not have gradually evolved since a part of an eye would have no beneficial function and natural selection would eliminate any partially formed eye parts. For a more detailed analysis on why the human eye could never have evolved see my devotion, The Human Eye – Evolution’s Worst Nightmare.3

In conclusion, if accepted at all, the theory of evolution must be accepted by sheer blind faith and I just don’t have that amount of faith.
