The Bible – Its Implications are Breathtaking!

As Christians we believe that the entire Bible is the word of God and is true in everything it says. If this statement is true, then the implications for us are truly breathtaking. In this devotion I will list just five of these implications to encourage you in your walk with the Lord.

The Bible is a stunning treasure trove of truth

My good friend Greg Enos in his wonderful blog states the following: “It means that the Bible is a stunning treasure trove of truth. And in the Bible, we have a spectacular opportunity to find out just who God is, and what he’s like. It’s no wonder that so many people throughout human history have dedicated their very lives to studying the Bible.”1 What a marvelous thought to study a book that reveals so much about who the Creator of the universe is. I don’t know about you but what could be more exciting than to spend the rest of one’s life getting to know the one true God better!

If Jesus rose from the dead, it proves He is God

Not only did Jesus do miracles while He was alive, but He did His most wonderful miracle after He died – He rose from the dead! He clearly stated while He was on earth that He was God and if the miracles He performed weren’t enough to prove His deity then His claim that He would rise from the dead certainly should have been enough to prove His case. And the implications that Jesus is God are simply monumental. First, it means the claim that we can be born again by accepting Jesus into our lives is a reality. Second, it means that our lifetime of sins are forgiven. Third, it means that we are children of a most wonderful and holy God, and fourth, and most awesome, is the certainty that we will spend eternity with Jesus in heaven.

Next to the Trinity we are the hottest things in the universe

If the Bible in its entirety is true, then we clearly as Christians are “in Christ.” And if we are in Christ then we are of infinite value to God for God says we are His treasured possession (Deuteronomy 14:2 NIV), made in His image (Genesis 1:27), a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation (1 Peter 2:9), and His children and joint heirs with Christ (Romans 8:16-17). What a fantastic set of accolades to lavish on us, but that’s exactly what the Bible says we are in Christ!

No matter how difficult life may be here on earth heaven will make all the difference

Life isn’t fair! Why should we in America have plenty of food to eat and hundreds of millions around the world go hungry to bed each night. Or why should we have the gift of sight and 50 million people in the world are totally blind. And I could give countless other examples of the unfairness of life. But don’t confuse life with God. While life can be unfair God is never unfair. For the Bible tells us in (Philippians 3:21) that when we die, Christ will give us a glorified body: “who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.” So even as a Christian if we suffer a terminal illness or are martyred for our faith we win in the end! I love how the apostle Paul says in (Romans 8:18): “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” Life may seem unfair but in the eternal scheme of things heaven makes all the difference.

Not only is the Bible a book that is true, but it contains a myriad of precious promises for the Christian

Since the Bible is true, we can claim its amazing promises, which are many. There are literally hundreds of promises that God tells us about. And the exciting thing about the Bible is that it’s like a wonderful treasure hunt for those willing to mine its precious promises. There are promises to give us peace, to strengthen us, to release us from anxiety, to bless us, and on it goes. Since the Bible is true it promises to deliver implications that are indeed breathtaking. As Christians let’s praise God every day for His great love letter – the Bible.
