The Sadness of Evolution

As Christians we believe we are created in the image of God and as a result have great intrinsic value. We believe that God has a wonderful plan for our lives and a glorious future awaits us when we pass away. Purpose and meaning, joy and peace, and the adventure of a lifetime await all of us as we begin this wonderful journey called life.

But to the countless millions who believe that we made our way into the world through a process called Darwinian evolution, what can they look forward to. I contend that they must indeed lead lonely lives full of a great sense of sadness as they ponder what the purpose of life is.

While evolutionists believe that science supports their theory, the reality is that evolution is nothing more than secular religion masquerading as science, and sadly leads to insignificance and despair. Since nobody times nothing equals everything is the mantra that evolutionists must believe in, is it any wonder that this humanistic theory is totally devoid of any potential for meaning and inevitably leads to sadness and despair.

With no god to believe in, the evolutionist establishes himself as the most important person in his world and lives his life knowing that he came from nothing and when he dies he goes back to nothing. And while he then tries to find meaning in between these two states of nothingness, is it any wonder that sadness and insignificance become his twin companions as he travels through life.

Not only that, but when the evolutionist is confronted with the realization that he is here by a very long process of accidental and random occurrences, any real sense of meaning and purpose in life must also be but a by-product of chance. Since most adherents to evolution are atheists, I believe, that sadness is the only thing they have to look forward to. For you see even the atheist worships a god called self. With no god to believe in he places himself as the supreme person in his universe, and spends the rest of his life searching for a reason for his existence. Searching every pathway, every byway, overturning every stone, examining every philosophy, and experiencing every feeling, as he comes to the end of his journey, the answer he finds is that none exists.

Since evolutionists rely on chance and accident as the driving forces that brought humanity into existence is it any wonder that the “luck of the draw” often determines a person’s short lived happiness on planet earth. As Christians we believe that a wonderful God called Jesus created us and destined us for greatness and eternal life. He promises all of His followers a life of joy and peace, and His word the Bible has all the guidance we need to lead a life rich with meaning. Sadly, for the evolutionist any purpose in life is solely based on his ability to find meaning in between the two states of nothingness he was born from and will die in.

I thank my God that when Jesus opened my eyes I was delivered from my past belief in evolution. As a result of this transformation, I no longer dwell with sadness in my heart but with the joy of the Lord!

  1. The word “sad” or a version of that word is used multiple times in this piece:
“lonely lives full of a great sense of sadness”
“sadly leads to insignificance and despair.”
    “leads to sadness and despair.”
“sadness and insignificance become his twin companions”
“sadness is the only thing they have to look forward to.”
“Sadly, for the evolutionist any purpose in life is solely based on his ability to find meaning”
“I no longer dwell with sadness in my heart”

I believe we need to take this a step further. When we say, “Sadly, for the evolutionist any purpose in life is solely based on his ability to find meaning in between the two states of nothingness he was born from and will die in,” we seem to be saying that this “sadness” is based on an “ability” to find meaning in life.” If that were true, it would be sad and the atheist should be pitied. But we can never escape the words of Paul in Romans 1 where the word of the Lord is unambiguous. God’s wrath is revealed from heaven on these men with unrighteousness and ungodly beliefs. They are not innocent victims of wrong and sad thinking. They actively suppress the truth. What can be known about God has been made plain to them, so they are without excuse. Paul says that those who actively teach such things and live the lifestyle that it encourages “deserve to die,” for God has given them up.
That may be sad but it’s so much more. God doesn’t pity these secular thinkers and teachers, even though evolution is not really secular but a false religion in opposition to the one true God. They have made a moral choice to oppose the truth for which they will be held responsible and no excuse will release them from God’s wrath, which is beyond sad.
