The World’s Greatest Need

We live today in a world that has many pressing needs. From finding a cure to cancer to feeding the millions who have little food to eat, there is no shortage of pressing needs to work to meet. But these are all physical needs. And while these needs are important they pale in comparison to the greatest need we all have, which is to be reconciled back to the God of the Bible – Jesus Christ! A. B. Simpson expressed it this way: “Aggressive Christianity is the world’s greatest need.”1

It is our human nature to suppress our knowledge of the God of the Bible, since mankind enjoys their sin so much, it is imperative that we as Christians, get busy sharing the good news of the gospel by living godly lives and sharing the message of Christ. For you see, while meeting physical needs is important, it is far more important to meet the spiritual needs of the soul because we were created to have a relationship with God and our souls will never find true contentment and joy until this need is met. Not only that but our eternal destiny depends on how we respond to the gospel.

We were created in the image of God and as spiritual beings we have an eternal soul. But because of our sin nature we have become separated from God and will one day have to pay the penalty for our sins which is eternal separation from the Lord in hell. Only the gospel has the cure for this most serious sin condition, which is to repent and invite Jesus into our hearts. When an individual does this he becomes a true child of God, has their sins forgiven, can enjoy a wonderful life of peace, joy, and meaning right now, and experience the incredible blessing of being able to spend all of eternity with Jesus!

Some may wonder why we as believers need to be so aggressive in our sharing the good news of Christ and what does this aggressiveness look like. Well for starters we need to realize that time is short and mankind by himself will never on his own seek after God. (Romans 3:10-11) tells us: “As it is written: ‘There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God.’” As a result it becomes imperative we share the message of Christ so each person, who is unsaved, can understand that they are indeed sinners, and that Jesus is the only way to become reconciled back to God. And as far as what this aggressiveness looks like: love each person, help meet their physical needs when possible, and most importantly pray for their salvation.

My friends, aggressive Christianity is the need of the hour and as ambassadors for Christ we need to get busy sharing the gospel and living a godly life since the only Bible many non-believers will ever read is you! And the only way they will hear the message of the gospel is if someone shares it with them! So let’s get busy sharing the Good News!
